About the AD Tourney

It all begins with an idea.

The Airdrie Dads Golf Tournament was started in early 2015 with a text between two dads who both had 3 young kids at the time and found it hard to get out and golf.

“We should plan a golf event, do it on a Friday so no family time is given up. We can see if Apple Creek would give a us deal for a burger and a round”. A post on the Airdrie Dads Facebook page and the rest is now history. The event started with two charities being the beneficiaries, The Nathan O’Brien Children’s Foundation and the Airdrie Food Bank. As the event grew along with the money raised, we realized another charity could benefit and the B&G of Airdrie was added.

The event was set up from day one to allow any business big or small to participate. We always had some paid sponsorship opportunities but still to this day, if a business wants to come out and provide something to the golfers, there is no charge. We appreciate all the support! It’s a day for a bunch of dads to get out, socialize, chase a white ball around all while raising some money for our incredible local charities!

Since that simple text, 6 tournaments and over $130k raised and counting…. The two texters, and previous organizers have since stepped down graciously - Allowing for the official AD Golf Committee to take over as the overseers going forward. Still crazy that because of one quick message in early 2015, we now have one of the biggest golf tournaments in the city and surrounding area!

Your 948 Charity Support Association Board Members:

  • ** COMING SOON **

  • Ryan has an ear and eye for all that is Airdrie. A skillset that can handle a lot of tasks and a love of the game of golf. Aside from working on our amazing crew and spearheading many new ideas for our charities, you will find Ryan in our community helping out… or at the card shop.

  • Charlie and Quest Braces have been a champion sponsor for each past tournament. It only feels right to have him involved as our Sponsorship Director. Charlie’s reach in our community is vast and we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without him and Quest.

  • Community focused, and a lover of the game of golf is what we needed for this role. Geoff runs GW Designs in Airdrie and jumped at the chance to be involved with the Committee. Mostly, you will find him in the local online community promoting clients, but is a sucker for wing night!

  • All the paperwork, all the legal, all the minutes and all the stuff that no one else knows how to do gets handed to Tanner. Knowing the ins and outs of non-profit status, charity and getting all our legal ducks in order was and is needed. Tanner is the man in the background, keeping us honest!
